Time has flown by! Auntie E's bus arrived today and she'll be heading back to Beautiful BC tomorrow. Cashew has been entertained by her made-up songs, fed with love and changed with care. Plus, even with Sushi coming soon, Auntie E is so mobile that she helped around the kitchen too. Thank you for a great two weeks - we'll miss your nightly ice cream cravings and email updates on how Cashew's day was going. Take care of Sushi and we'll see you soon! Also, thank you to Uncle J for driving the blue bus back and forth. Hmm, when shall we have a rematch of Scattergories? Lately, we've discovered that the males do pretty good at the game - the level of competition is closer in Scattergories than when we play Taboo or Guesstures. So, even though it's an oldie, it's a goodie

Now, we welcome Grandma here who has already cooked a great dinner for us - yum, we're looking forward to many more yummy meals! Hopefully Grandpa won't be too lonely and hungry this week  Here she is already at work.

Last Friday was my first day back at work. The night before, I was thinking that it felt a little strange that I’d have to wake up early and leave Cashew behind – a little surreal that my time at home with Cashew had come to an end. After spending three months learning about becoming a mom and taking care of a little one, it was finally time to get reacquainted with the outside world. In some ways the three months have passed by quickly while in others, it felt long. So many things have happened and Cashew has changed in so many ways already even though she’s only three months old. It’s been a good adjustment period – we are so thankful to have had so many helpful hands in the first few months - grandmas cooking and helping with Cashew, friends bringing meals, advice from other new moms etc.  It felt good being back at work – being able to catch up on what had been happening and get involved in future projects. It was nice to be able to have conversations with adults for a straight eight hours J . This is my goodbye hug from Cashew before I left in the morning. I’m looking forward to the weekend now when I’ll see her for two whole days! Yippee!

I missed Cashew but knew she was in good hands - Spidey spent the whole day with her on Friday. He was really looking forward to his day with Cashew.  Spidey said he was exhausted - more tired than playing in a day long basketball tournament! He wanted to go to sleep after I got home from work.

Cashew is soo good at holding up her head now. All the training has paid off  We play SuperGirl where she's flying around while Spidey holds her torso so she has to support her head herself. She used to whimper when we put her down on her tummy but now she uses her arms to hold herself up and look around curiously. This is the outfit from GoldDust Girl - thank you Auntie P, it was nice talking to you on the phone!

This week Uncle J and Auntie E were so gracious to come down from the north to help babysit Cashew. We owe you big time! Since their little package is coming soon, Cashew was helping with their training. Their day went a little  like this...

Hooray, playtime!

Zzzzzz, naptime...oops, Cashew's not quite down yet!

Repeat 3X!

Yesterday was a momentous occasion in Cashewland. One moment, Cashew was laying on the couch on her stomach and in the next, she had turned herself over! Yahoo! But, that just means Spidey really needs to put together the playpen now...if it's still not built by Monday, Uncle J and Auntie E will probably do the honors since they'll be visiting. We'll have to really watch her now that she's flipping over - as they say, "one hand on baby at all times."

Mornings are so fun! After a good night's sleep, Cashew is really playful and in a great mood in the morning. She'll laugh and smile when you play with her even though it's mealtime. She likes to hear singing, conversing with people and moving her limbs. Today she did the actions to "Lord I Lift Your Name On High." She didn't know all the actions though so I think she made some up.  She likes to swat wildly with both her hands now - it's kinda funny to watch. Also, when she's in the right mood, she'll talk for quite a long time - it's pretty entertaining even though it's just babble. Only thing is sometimes she talks so much she gives herself the hiccups. Here she is babbling and swatting at the same time! Already multi-tasking, good girl!

We went on a walk yesterday and Cashew sat the whole time in the carseat! Actually, after looking at the scenery around her, she even fell asleep on the way back home. So great! On hot days it was hard to carry her in the pouch since having her against me made me hot. So, this is fantastic!

We're back! We had a mini vacation and went to Vancouver to enjoy time with family and friends...and of course we ate some great Japanese and Chinese food. As you can see below, Cashew thought about having some sushi too...

On our last visit, Spidey got a taste of the dessert "ba bao bing" and thought it was awesome. It's a bowl of shaved ice with 8 kinds of stuff on top like green bean, red bean, grass jelly, tapioca, sweet tofu, "tang yuan", pineapple jelly, peanuts etc. So now, eating "ba bao bing" is a new tradition - it really hit the spot with the weather being so hot. You can get it in the food court at Parker Place in Richmond. We also like the Dim Sum at Fisherman's Terrace in Aberdeen - we've been meeting Uncle B and Auntie M there the last couple times we've seen them.

We had a lot of fun in Vancouver - we were able to play tennis and even go and watch a late night movie. It's been a while since we've watched a movie in the theatre - we saw Batman Begins. It was pretty good - nice to see on the big screen. Being in Vancouver for 5 days gave us a taste of what it would be like to live there - it was so great to have a break and have a little help. Grandparents are the best!

Cashew did awesome in the car! She slept the whole way up to Vancouver - she hasn't slept like that since when she was first born. On the way back we had a long border wait - 45 min and hit some traffic near Everett - but Cashew still was able to sleep most of the way. It felt like she grew up while we were there too - she's laughing more, smiling more, sleeping in the car seat, sitting longer etc. It's really cute to see her scrunch her face up when she's excited and squeal with laughter. Here she is chillin' in the car...

We heard some exciting news from an auntie and a friend - Cashew will have two new friends in the new year! That makes a total of four little friends coming soon - anymore news?
